Therapies Explained
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a normal and
natural state of mind. You experience
hypnosis many, many times during the day, and have done so
every day of your entire life .
For example….
- Just before you fall asleep and just after you wake up you go
through hypnosis.
- If you drive long distances and just find yourself arriving
home safely without any real memory of the journey, then you
probably entered what is known as the ‘drivers trance' (which is
perfectly safe).
- If you read a book and get engrossed in the storyline, feel
the emotions of the character, than that too is hypnosis.
- If you watch an advert a couple of times and find yourself
favoring a particular product (over an equally viable option) then
that too is a form of hypnosis.
Everybody of average intelligence
can and do enter hypnosis . Nobody can be
hypnotized against their will and it is
impossible to make you do something
you do not want to do while in hypnosis.
Because you have experienced hypnosis so many
countless times already, you will not feel anything
different when you are with me and in hypnosis , than what
you would normally experience when you are relaxed at home.
Hypnosis therefore is not a therapy -
it is simply a ‘state of mind' – a relaxed, safe, comfortable
experience where your brainwaves have slowed down a little bit. That
is why it is useful as a therapeutic tool/aid because when your
brain is relaxed you have greater access to your creativity and
memory bank.
What makes hypnotherapy a ‘therapy', is the
techniques used when a person is in hypnosis.
The two techniques when used in hypnosis that can
create lasting and permanent change are called ‘suggestion
hypnotherapy', and ‘pure hypno analysis'.
- Suggestion hypnotherapy is a
very simple and enjoyable process, where a person is given verbal
suggestions ( e.g ‘you feel confident and capable speaking in
front of people' ) to change while they are hypnotized. This
form of therapy works wonderfully well for very simple
problems like smoking cessation, nail biting and
sometimes weight loss. Because the person is hypnotized the
suggestions are much more likely to take effect and create a
change in that person's life.
- However, if the problem is more complicated / deeply
ingrained, then a course of pure hypno-analysis
would be recommended. This consists usually of six to
nine weekly sections where a person gets to and resolves the
underlying subconscious emotional cause of the
problem. The results are immediate, permanent and
liberating.
Imagine we have a bag of unresolved
emotional experiences from the first 15 years of our lives. This unresolved emotion gives rise to a
constant amount of subconscious stress . We carry
this around with us all the time and add to it now and again as we
get older. In therapy, every week we empty out a little of
what is contained in the emotional bag and at the end of
therapy the major emotional experiences are gone out of our system
along with whatever difficulty/symptom they were creating in us.
Pure Hypno-Analysis is an entirely natural therapeutic
process. If you had some time off and just sat in a
quiet room, with no distractions and with someone providing your
meals, you would naturally start to daydream and enter a reverie.
Little everyday experiences and memories would naturally float into
your mind. If you were to continue living like that for a few weeks/
months then you would, by the mind's natural built in therapeutic
process, resolve the vast majority of your bottled up emotions.
Most people however cannot afford the luxury of taking time out
to be completely alone with their thoughts, so Pure Hypno-Analysis
is a technique to aid in this natural process, where once a week we
meet up to focus the mind on the task of getting better
and reach that moment of enlightening liberation safely
together.
So if you would like to create that change inside
